Can it be done right away? Does the electricity company come out and do it?

The reason is a renter was evicted will not get out and we want it turned off by tomorrow.

  1. Next day.  The only problem for a landlord is that you can not turn off the electric without a judge's order.  So if a judge ordered them to vacate, go ahead.  If you are kicking them out, don't do it.  They can sue you for damages because you broke the law.  Tricky tenants know the law. /

  2. Nope, you cannot shut off the electricity, it's illegal.  Not to mention, it's summer time, they can get along without electric for some time.

  3. all u do is call the company and tell them to cut if off then they will do it right away

  4. Since you want to do it for a renter you need a judge's order to turn it off.  The electric company will come out and do it for you. but your tenant can turn around and sue you if you do not have a judge's order to turn it off.  If you have all ready received a court order to evict and it is past the date they were given to move out, you can legally have the police escort off the property--if needed 9and you allow it) the police can break down the door to remove them (if they are past the court ordered eviction date)

  5. DO NOT turn off the electricity on them.. that's illegal.. one illegal maneuver (them not leaving) does not make another one okay, and if they take you to court over it you will get into trouble...

so you evicted them and they wont leave, call the police station and have the justice system work things out...

  6. If I remember from my Physics class, it's pretty close to the speed of light.  You'd have to take resistance on the line into consideration.

sorry, bad joke.  You can't turn it off until they are gone.  If you do, they can sue you.
