How fast does the super 80 aircraft fly?

I was just wondering how many mph this plane flies at. And is this speed fast for a commercial flight?

Typical cruise speeds are in the mach .76 - .78 range.  About the same as quite a few other air carrier type aircraft.  There are some that routinely cruise faster, and sometimes you'll see someone in fuel conservation mode at about .74.  Overall, speeds seem to have dropped slightly as fuel costs have been rising.

MD-80 usually cruises between Mach .74-.76

in standard atmosphere, speed of sound at 30,000 ft is 678 mph - so it translates into 500-515 mph (in still air - to get groundspeed you need to add or subtract wind speed)

it is on a slow side - B767 cruises about Mach .80, B747 classic - Mach .84, B747-400 - Mach .86 etc.

if youre talking of the dc9 -80.. they go just under mach airspeeds....about 500mph
