How fast does thyme grow?

Question

Specifically, mother of thyme (or creeping thyme). I have seeds that sprouted yesterday, and I'm wondering how fast they grow-- for example, how big will they be after a week? A month? Two months? Etc. Can anyone who grows thyme give me specifics? I'd love also to see a link that includes pics of thyme at various stages... thanks!

They will probally double in a few weeks to months in size. With proper care they will grow large. It just takes thyme!

Click on minnie's photos on this forum to see 3 month-old thyme (planted in early April).  Even though these may not be exactly the same as your plants...  Mother of Thyme (Thymus serpyllum ) ...but may beThymus vulgaris,  their growth habits would be similar. Mother of Thyme is generally a smaller plant than Garden Thyme & it's creeping stems have erect branches from 2 to 3 inches high, but some varieties under cultivation reach 3 feet in height.

In May, I started seeds of Common Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)  in peat pots using Jiffy-Mix (seed starting mix). They germinated in a few weeks & I eventually planted them in potting soil in larger pots. Mine aren't as full & large as those in minnie's picture above, but it hasn't been 3 months yet. I'm eagerly waiting to see some pink blooms :)
