  1. if you want to go coast to coast the passenger trains still take 2nd place to freight , it's almost like the crown corp. wants to fail, i would be very nervous going 125 on a roadbed subject to the extreme freeze thaw cycles we see here.


  2. Very slow...TOdays schedule from Wpg to Vancouver is not much different then the one in 1867...Believe it or Not.

  3. In 1981 and 1892, VIA took delivery of the Canadian built LRC (Light, Rapid, Comfortable) locomotives and the cars, equipped with automatic tilt mechanisms, and are designed for speeds up to 125 MPH.

    Rail improvement projects, which allow LRC trains to operate between major cities such as Toronto and Montreal at maximum speed, began in the late 80s.  The hope was that increased speed would attract more riders.

  4. we took the train from montreal to TO (6.5 hrs) and it was slower than the car trip(5.0 hrs) as we got to sit at lots of sidings
