  1. It really depends on the size of you skis and the weight of the person. There is no one speed that will get you out of the water. What you need to do is have the person keep both tips of the skis up out of the water in front of them. Have them hold the ski rope with both hands and keep the line in between the skis. Have a person in the boat give thumbs up and then if the skier replies with thumbs up then the driver should start moving. The driver should accelerate as smoothly as possible to avoid ripping the handle out of the skier's hands but he should still accelerate moderately quickly so as to avoid making the skier struggle too hard getting out of the water. After the skier is up then the driver can usually level the speed off and then have a spotter keep an eye on the skier to see their comfort level. If the skier feels they are going to fast he or she should give thumbs down and if they feel like they are going to slow then give thumbs up to the spotter. The spotter will then tell the driver to adjust. Have fun.

  2. around 23 mph! but if you are wakeboarding more like 27~

  3. Since it's your first time, you will probably be using two skis.  On two skis, the range is usually 18-20 mph for a beginner.  Once you get better, you will want to go faster because it's easier.  If you get good enough to ski on one ski, you will probably want to go 22-28 mph.  I ski on one ski (called slalom) and am intermediate, and prefer a boat speed of 28-32 mph, depending on water/wave conditions.  Check out wikki too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_skiin...

  4. fast enough to keep the skier on top of the water........
