  1. dont use apples, bananas, watermelon cause they get slimy and turn brown quick use strawberries cantaloupe etc.  do them before you go to bed and wrap them up in plastic so they can stay fresh

oh by the way i love that idea.

  2. I did these for a nephew's gift opening lunch the day after his wedding. I had the fruit cut up the evening before, then assembled them in the morning.

If you put them together the night before, and have adequate refrigeration they will be fine.

Just some hints - don't use bananas or apples at all. Melons are great, and I used teeny cookie cutters for the shapes to make the flowers/stars out of honeydew and cantaloupe. I used red and green seedless grapes, pineapple and strawberries. Make sure if you are using marachino cherries, that you put them out on paper towels to absorb the moisture, because the juice bleeds over everything else otherwise.

From the instructions I had, the base was a head of lettuce, which actually worked really well. I put it on a platter, then put in the fruits on thin wooden skewers, and around the arrangement I put the 'leftover' pieces of fruit (from cutting and after using the cookie cutters) on cocktail picks, so they were smaller.

For putting in the fridge, put paper towels around, then in a plastic bag - because moisture will collect.

    Good luck!

  3. they should be fine if done as late as possible the night before.  Skip watermelon, it gets slimy, and apples and bananas get brown.  Cantelope, honeydew, strewberries, grapes, pineapple will all be great the next day.  Wrap then in plastic and keep them in a fridge.

  4. Those are really beautiful!  I think as long as you assemble them  the night before and keep them cold, they will be fine.  No apples or bananas though, they can get mushy or turn brown.

P.S. I liked the link so much I saved it in my favorites!  Thank you!
