My dad bought a 17' boat yesterday.

It has a 60 hp motor.

I'm wondering how fast it will be able to go? Will we be able to go tubing, waterskiing, etc.?

  1. There is no definitive answer to your question of how fast for there are too many unknowns. Type of hull? Age of motor? Seating capacity? How much will the driver and spotter weigh? How much does the skier weigh? What type of water? Lake? River? Experience of the skiier? Single/double ski?

With all that said...yes, you'll be able to tube but ski's? Give it try but tie the suit on tight and hold on for dear life 'cuz it's gonna' be slow getting up!

  2. if you have a experienced skier you can do it we practice on a slalom ski behind a 16ft 1972 johnson 60hp we get45 mph out of her but conditions must be optimun use correct pitch prop, stainless steel prop(has less flex)minimal feul and only driver and spotter in boat also should mention that this engine is in optimal operating condition

  3. You can barely ski with 2 skis behind a 40 so your boat will work and be great for tubing. You will never slalom or do tricks behind it though. With 2 guys it will probably do 30-35...more people will slow it down...weight in the back will keep it from getting on plane so remember to distribute weight evenly.
