On our church's land as a fundraiser? Very low budget, white fabric sewn together for a screen, projector checked out from the library each time we show a movie, not much land, so ppl bring lawn chairs instead of sitting in their cars, we have speakers we can take outside for sound, will have popcorn, soda, and candy. rural area. what i'm really wondering is do i need to get some kind of permission to show the movies? would prob show kids movies and classic old movies. also religious movies. stuff that has been out a while. how feasible is it to do this? help! any tips or ideas are appreciated!

  1. i know that our local state park shows movies like this (but not a sewn screen) and people sit on wooden benches. They have it on a island in the middle of the lake. They don't get permission to show the films like the guy above me stated..i know because i help with it all the time. They either buy the movies or borrow them from the public library.

I think it's a great idea and you could also sell popcorn and canned sodas and make a little profit. Maybe the youth group could sell the products.

  2. The actual mechanics of doing it couldn't be simpler... it's just the licensing for the films you show.  If you don't get caught, you don't need any permission.
