  2. If you are a 90 miles+ bowler, then you have to very fit, and also need aquired rest.

Potentially shaiob akthar could of been better bowler, and had more success than brett lee, but because he was always injured, he is not. So fittness is crucial

You also need the right managment, if you are really fast top class bowler, to guide you.

People like Shoiab, Shane bond, have sort of wasted there talent by not being fit enough.

Brett lee, however is looking very weak and tired, and he needs rest. He has also lost weight.

  3. A fast bowler doesn't have to be more fit than the rest of the players on the team. A fast bowler is more likely to get injured and therefore he should develop the correct techniques as a bowler. If strength alone was the key to a successful fast bowler then Great Khali would be world's fastest bowler.

  4. Very fit! Brett trains all year round, going for long runs, sometimes up to 15 kms each day. He is probably the fittest of all the Aussies. Gym work, swimming, golf & tennis are some of his keep fit routines, as well as normal practice & training. It exhausts me hearing about it! lol

  5. In the 1920's and 1930's, the top English fast bowler, Harold Larwood, built up his strength by drinking beer and working down the mine. He even slaked his thirst with beer during the drinks intervals in matches!

Nowadays this sort of thing is frowned upon. Top players are expected to maintain a high fitness level, and their nutrition is carefully monitored.
