It was very funny indeed, the Americans didn't go off running their mouths like France's Alaine Bernard, he talked so much he gave me a headache. Who's talking now. Actions always speaks louder than words, who doesn't love a underdog. Go USA!!! Michael Phelphs will win 8 this time.

France talked the talk, but the USA walked the walk.  I guess the French did not learn from Gary Hall's mouthing off against the Aussies in a past Olympics.

it was hilarious i found i myself saying run run how weird when there swimming! Did you hear the announcer say there is know way we could win but the oh yeah you no it we did! one more thing in your face france!!!

Actually it was kind of ironic. Gary Hall of the 2000 Sydney USA 4 x 100 free relay (anchor man too) did the same thing by saying the Americans were going to 'smash the Aussies like guitars' when asked by the media what to expect in the finals.

After the Aussies kicked their tails they (the Aussies) were on the deck strumming their 'air guitars' in celebration while the Americans (who were the first American team to ever lose this race in the Olympics) were hanging their heads. At least the Americans went over and gave the Aussies a congratulatory hand shake after the race.

I guess many of these athletes were still in elementary school when this happened so never learned a lesson from it.

"Let your actions make your statement. And if you do want to talk smack do it after the race and don't let your opponents use it as incentives."

It is interesting to note it was Alain Bernard, the anchor man, that made the statement and then tightened up on the end when Lazek caught him.

Do you think that'll be in the back of his head later this week when they both swim the 100 free?  LOL

it was so awesome cuz they were ahead and then we beat them by 0.06 seconds. oh it was sweet

I watched it last night the race was pretty intense when they did a replay they showed Michael Phelps goin nuts towards the end of the race.The French should not of acted all pigeon chested "The Americans? We’re going to smash them. That’s what we came here for" I started crackin up when that one French guy had that look on his face knowin they'd lost.I had a feelin before the race even started France was gonna eat their own **** in the end........
