Gangs in El Salvador work just liek they do in every other country with crime and violence. The most notorious gang is MS-13 which is spread into the us. It has operations in the jails of El Salvador that actually have so much power they can control the actions of gang members in the US.

from what i understand, the gangs were not in el salvador before some of the salvadorans came up the the USA.  these gangs formed and i think also some people from el salvador joined existing gangs.  in the city (san salvador) and in the western part the gangs are violent but they are not everywhere all the time.  they operate like gangs in LA perhaps....there are just some places at certain times of the 24 hour day that you do not want to visit.

I don't really know what you mean by this question. But if you want to know they sell drugs, guns and come with a lot of violence that we don't need.
