  1. I think just about everybody starts out on a zebco rod & reel. They are not bad for the $$$ and with a little care they can last you a while.Hey good luck with yours and if anything happens to it check your warranty. Have fun fishing!

  2. the rods (for a beginner) trustworthy and reliable as far as workmanship goes. the tips are a little week for setting the hoot in hard mouthed fish like bass, halibut, pike or muskies but I watched a kids catch a 30 inch halibut with one off the H B pier once. (everyone deserves a good day fishing at least once, even if it is luck)

the line sucks their reels will twist the line when retrieving if the drag is being taken out though and that like spinning is the major downfall for big fish hunters

  3. they seem to break easily, their more for beginners. try to go on amazon.com they sell everything in there.

  4. So long as your not catching turtles on a crappy pole, they hold up pretty well.

  5. I have a couple that have lasted me a long time.  As long as you take care of it and change the line 2 or 3 times a season depending how often you use it, it should last you forever.

  6. They aren't bad rods, not the best but not the worst, for the amount of time you state you fish it should be fine to use.

  7. Here's a tip I learned about fishing rods. Hold it in your hand and lightly  run the tip of the rod back and forth on a hard surface floor. If you feel the cracks, it's a good sensitive rod.

Now that fishing has become more popular, rod builders are more into building rods for specific types of fishing, in other words some will have a strong area at the handle and maybe a really flimsy tip. For general fishing, Zebco has a very long lasting reputation of making a good beginners all the way up to professional quality rods and the rods priced around 30.00 should catch just about most fresh water fish and throw just about any bait.  I absolutely love Zebco products, and have a Zebco 33 reel that's over 40 years old and still casts like the day it was bought.

  8. ya, i bought one about 2 months ago, the line that comes with them are great, not sure of the weight they are but i cought a 12 pound mud fish, i mostly use it for catfish and bass and there great, get a cork handle, gives u better grip and better for the enviroment

  9. rods are good .......their reels are junk

  10. I have had a Zebco rod for about two months now. I bought it as a rod and reel combo. The reel broke on me Saturday, but I love that rod. It's very strong and I can feel the bites and nibbles through it pretty well. When my reel screwed up, I just replaced the reel, didn't see a reason to buy another rod. My husband has a Berkley rod that I like as well.

Hope this answered your question. Have fun and good luck reeling in a BIG one!!
