  1. I guess I didnt realize that there was a "perfect swing."  I would focus more on making the high school varsity team rather than the PGA Tour.  Your scores will need to improve just to play at the varsity level.  Unfortunately the mental game is not only the most important skill to have nailed down, but it is also the toughest area to improve.  Study the game, the players, and watch how they analyze a golf course and use the terrain features to their advantage, and know when to keep themselves out of trouble.

  2. Sorry bud but you have no chance. There are 11 year old golfers out there that are shooting low 70's all the time. You wouldn't even make it as a caddy at euro pro school.

I play off scratch and i am nowhere near good enough to get to the euro tour yet alone the pga tour.

  3. That is high school junior varsity scores not PGA, most PGA players shoot under par on average

  4. You are still young, so you have a shot at it, but dont for one moment think you have a perfect swing, unless you are dropping all those shots on the green. You'll need to get round at par or better, every time, to think about having a chance at becoming a tour pro.

You'll need to improve, but at least you have the time to do it. It IS tough though, and you'll need luck and some natural talent as well as hard work. Even if you put in the effort, there is no guarantee - so just remember why you took up the game in the first place; to enjoy yourself. Play hard, and play to win - good luck!

  5. Keep Practicing Man! that Tool Nick W doesnt know what he is talkin about anyone can make it on the Tour! It just so happens he sucked at it! and gave up there fore he is a FAILURE dont Let FAILURES and LOSERS like Nick W and LEAFS FANS bring you down man all you need is Devotion u gotta practice and practice right with a purpose not just beating balls.  the mental game is where u need to improve! if you can get a Strong Mental Game you have a Great Chance. Tiger has the best Mental Game thats why he is the best.

  6. Keep a handicap and be honest with it.  The guys on tour are about 5-8 strokes better than scratch.  It's that simple.  At 16, its impossible to say what your potential is.  There are guys on tour who werent even playing yet at 16.  There are guys who had played in tour events already at 16.  Work hard, real hard!, and see what happens. Good Luck.

  7. If you still shoot in the 80's your swing isn't perfect. You will need to be able to shoot par anywhere.

  8. It's not only a matter of swing, as you say, Golf is a mental game.

Never get angry, never think about your score, when you play a hole, only think about that hole and do not fill your mind with score numbers.

Of course, the PGA is for world's best players, and that's hard mate ^^

But if you love the game and you always have the will to enhance your skills, you can break the 70's and become a Pro.

Sorry for my english, but im from Rome, Italy, and my golf hcp is 6 ;)

    Cya!

    Ps.

As Josh says, yea, Golf IS 100 yards in.

my uncle plays golf too, he's kinda crazy and sometimes plays matches with 4 or 5 clubs. well. he might need 3 hits to reach the green in a par 4, but the fourth stroke is in the hole :)

Putting and Chipping makes you strong.

  9. You have no chance.   Learn to love the game, and enjoy to play.

Even if you shoot scratch golf, you're odds are 1 in 20,000 to ever appear in a PGA tournament.

I devoted 8 years to the game, and was once a 7 handicap, however I never had a chance at even trying out for Q school.

  10. You have a perfect swing and you don't break 70? I think you need to reevaluate your swing. Track were your big numbers come from and then work on that. You have a ways to go to even sniff a NCAA team let alone be one of the top 150 in the world.

  11. You are currently playing to about a -9 handicap

That means the course has to give you 9 shots in stroke play or a shot on each of the 9 hardest holes for stableford

The average PGA Tour player would be playing to a handicap of +3 at least based on how hard they set up the courses. That means he has to GIVE the course 3 strokes.

So mate does that tell you something about your perfect swing?

You need to really improve ALL aspects of your game, especially the SHORT game.

The difference from being a 9 marker to a PGA  Tour Pro is equivalent to the difference between a 27 marker and Scratch.

Saying all the above DOESNOT mean you couldn't become a pro golfer. You just need to do a few things and you could make it

1  Get humble ("perfect swing in all aspects") LOL

    2. Get a good teacher to evaluate where you are going wrong

    3. Practice the RIGHT things and practice them a LOT

I'm talking hitting 400-800 balls every day. 3x that during holidays. plus play at least 4-5 times a week

    4. Learn good course management

    5. Constantly evaluate your on course game. keep a track of your stats. FH. GIR. Putts from < 4ft<10ft<20 <30 ft, Sand saves(SS). Shots taken 90 yards in Up& Downs Etc.

    6.Practice mental strength, visualisation. concentration

7 Find ways to put pressure on yourself when you are playing.

The great Australian golfer Greg Norman went from an 18 marker at age 15 to scratch by 17 to a Touring pro at 21

Mind you he worked his butt off and was a good athlete to start with

  12. You need to shoot consistently under par and in tournament conditions to get to the PGA tour.  So you need to cut 10 or more strokes off your score, but since you have a perfect swing in all areas that should be no problem.

  13. yeah you might have a chance, it depends what your handicap is? it was to be very low l

  14. Put it this way; even scratch won't be close.  Most of the guys on tour have handicaps in the +7 to +10 range (Woods' handicap has been estimated at +12 to +15, meaning he's giving a scratch golfer 12-15 strokes).

You have no idea how good these guys are.

  15. There is always a chance, and if anyone tells you differently they are living in a box and don't have a television.  All you need to do is watch some feel good sports movies like Hosiers, Rudy, The Rookie, Invincible, and the Greatest Game Ever Played to see that normal people can overcome huge odds if they have the heart, passion, and work ethic to become better.

Now let's talk about your game.  obviously high 70's and low 80's ain't gonna get you there.  But your only 16.  There is no such thing as a perfect swing, so continue to grove it so you know exactly how far you are going to hit each club.  It's not about how far you can hit it, but instead about getting close to the stick and making birdies.

Next, and MOST importantly YOU HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR SHORT GAME.  There are thousands of golfers in the world that can beat the ball down there as long as the pro's hit it.  What seperates us from the pro's is what we do 100 yards in.  Those guys are simply incredible in that zone and can put, chip, and hit their wedges better than anyone on earth.  If you want to have a chance, focus on 100 yards in, and hit your other clubs with consistent distance and accuracy.

Mental game is also very important, but golf is about confidence, and if you have the tools to score from all points on the course, you are going to have tons of confidence on your side.

    Keep working, and good luck!

P.S. If you make the tour, make sure and send me some tickets to the first Major you play in :)
