  1. It varies from one state to another. Call your state motor vehicle department and ask them.

  2. It totally depends upon the state.  Yes, an unrestricted driver's license requires 20/40, but if one gets a restricted to daylight driving only their vision has to be 20/70 with some basic restrictions on there visual field (that is, do they have tunnel vision or not).

  3. You need to have at least 20/40 vision, which is about 1 diopeter, to be able to drive without glasses.

  4. If you're in the UK, check the Highway Code - that gives the number of meters away that you have to be able to read the number plate.

If you're not in the UK, sorry, can't help!

  5. Usually at least 2-/40 in your good eye to be able to drive uncorrected in most states. It depends on where you live.. Check with your State's DMV web site they usually explain it there.

  6. It depends on the law where you live and the type of licence you need.

In most places you need at least one eye with 20/40 to 20/60 with glasses on and 120 degrees field of vision for a general licence.  Bus, taxi and truck licences will be stricter.

Some places allow you to drive with worse vision providing you pass a special in car driving test and have some restrictions (for example -no night driving, no 4 lane hwy).

Call your  local government agency that licences drivers for an accurate answer.
