  1. I was expecting Bogazici (Bosphorus) to be the top but according to this list the only Turkish university to make it into the top 400 internationally is Istanbul Technical University. However, I would imagine it depends very much what subject you wish to study.

  2. it's in turkey. what do you expect? Usually education in turkey is worse than anywhere in the world. I had a coworker from turkey and he did not know anything about our business and the position he was hired for. He got fired after 4 days at work because of his incompetence.

  3. Boğaziçi and Istanbul universities are 2 different stories my friend.

Im an Istanbul Uni 2001 Alumnus. My department was Classical Philology (2001) and I can tell you that excluding a few departments, the uni needs to be better organized. Not that it's all bad. But since the uni is so large and political dissimilarities are a very large concern, the main role of being a uni is kinda ignored there.

Tho many professors left Boğaziçi in recent years due to transfer offers from newly founded private unis, it still rocks, I can say that. The students who go to the US from there are highly successful. It's more or less about the quality of students themselves as well but Boğaziçi is definitely a good uni.

  4. Well i could say that Boğazi üniversity is one of the best but there are several good universities too like Galatasaray, Ä°stambul Technical University, and i am sorry if i forgot another ones, but i can assure you that theyare  as competitive and good as european and american universities, and they are so important that in orden to be able to get in that universities you have to be at least 500 top student in all turkey and may be less than that....the professors all at least must have a PhD from abroad, this universities besides being supported by turkish goverment are also supported for europeans countries like England and France and German and America too. Ä° was living in Wisconsin and i met several turkish working as a Professors in Madison University all graduates from this top universities... Ä° m not turkish but i can asure you that when you get graduated from this universities and some more from Ankara and Ä°zmir you would be as competitive as any european or american...

The answer that jugde all turkey education just because the uncopetitivity of one turkish is totaly out of sense..so i could say that one time we had a problem in the enterprise i used to work, so our american technical staff came from NY to solve it , this technician was a woman, she was one  trying to figure out what was happening and how to fix the problem out and at the end she excused illnes for food and came back to United states!!! did we think that all american were such incompetitive just because of her?? no...we solve the problem by ourself but we never did such statement!!!

  5. They are both great and prestigious universities (Bogazici and Istanbul) but if I had a chance to attend to one of them I would definitely pick Bogazici because it is just in the city and is more prestigious but if you are considering being a doctor, Bogazici won't provide that.

Oh for the Kevin guy, you can't judge a whole nation because of just one guy. If that helps I heard an European asking the question "Do the Middle Eastern people live on the other (Anatolian) part of the city?" but I don't judge a whole nation for that stupid question.
