How good is 12k gold thats being sold on ebay?

I am trying to buy a necklace for my husband but everything is 12k gold or 9k gold, and I dont want anything that is fake, or gold plated how good is the gold?

Actually 24 K Gold is the best, but it is expensive. Most of the stuff you buy commercially is gold plated.

Not too good ..... look for 14k or better...!!!  The higher the k the more pure and more expensive....
