How good is 2140 for the SAT?

Question

I took the SAT Reasoning Test, also known as SAT I or simply SAT, and got 2140. Many people have congratulated me saying its far above the average, but how good is it really? I know the maximum is 2400, but I'm not sure I understand the value of 260 points.

It's an excellent score and far above the 1500 average. However, it's below average for every ivy league school except maybe Cornell. So it's a really good score but not a stratospheric ivy score.

It should get you into the college of your choice (provided it's the REAL SAT's that college's require you to take for admissions).  It's been a really long time since I've taken them.
