  1. Agreed.  Depends on what you define as a "good" job.  A+ is pretty basic and not something I would consider difficult to get.  Having said that, if you are going from frymaker at McDonalds - it's probably going to help you get a "better" job.

    If you want to work anywhere in the country at obscene rates, become an Oracle PL/SQL developer :-)


  2. A+ is considered the absolutely most basic certification in the field.  It's enough to get you a job in the range of $8 to maybe $12 an hour or so depending on the market in your area, your location in the country, etc.

    The one you ultimately want to go after to get your foot in the door nice and solid would be a CCNA, but that's definitely more advanced than A+, MCP, etc if you're new to the IT field.
