How good is an IQ of 126 for a 14 year old?

I got the results today in the mail from an IQ test at school given to me by my counseler a few weeks ago.

My score was 126 and i'm a 14 Y.O girl....is this good or bad?

I think the average is around 110 so thats pretty good clever girl

I think the average for an adult is like 100 or somethin so it's actually pretty good! Just to show off, I'm 12 and my IQ is 139!

IQ of 126 is very good, you would be in the top 10% or so of all people, congratulations! The average IQ is 100, with 140 or better being regarded as 'genius'.

Its good but my i.q was that when i was 12 and my friends was 146 when she was 14 but im a super smartical so is she lol but these days there are so many stupid people on the earth reproducing oh that reminds me yeah its good mine is like 161 now but im only 16  lots more to go! BTW you need street smarts just as much as book smarts so if that test was just for school smarts then think what other possibilities are out there!

126 is generally considered slightly above average.  I would be interested to know what kind of IQ test they could possibly be giving at such an advanced age.  Generally, IQ tests are most accurate at a much younger age before language and other learned things (such as math, etc) come into play.  This is reason that most tests for gifted programs are administered in pre-school or kindergarten.

Also, it doesn't matter how old you are.  Your IQ doesn't change.  It's the same for your entire life, and has nothing to do with age.  A 3-year-old can have an IQ of 160+ (profoundly gifted) and a 40-year-old can have an IQ of 40.
