Question:

How good is emergency medical care in France?

On the night Diana died it took 17 minutes from the first emergency call to the ambulance reaching the scene. She did not reach the hospital until over 1hour 25 minutes after the ambulance arrived at the scene. The ambulance also stopped en-route.

I would not want to be in an accident in France if the medical care is still like this today.

  1. They have way better care than we have in America!

  2. It can not be better in the world.

  3. As already stated above, ambulances in Europe are more than just vehicles to get the patient from A to B.

There are actually 4 types of ambulances:

Transport: used when someone cannot move on his/her own and should be under paramedic supervision while in transit.

Ambulance: Has plenty of medical equipment on board. The crew consists of 2 drivers/paramedics, 1 doctor

Emergency Ambulance: That's the one Diana had. This is a rolling ER. They are even capable of performing (basic) surgery while in transit. The crew consists of 2 drivers/paramedics, 1 doctor/surgeon, 1 trauma surgeon

And of course the famous Ambulance Helicopters (!!). These are *flying* ERs, with a team of pilots and surgeons. They are mostly used in highway accidents where heavily injured people have to be transported as fast as possible to a hospital but need lifesaving procedures performed while in transit.

Now the best of all that is: it's for free! Well not exactly, because it is paid from tax money. But you do not have to hassle with your insurance to pre-approve anything.

France has the best medical system in Europe, and thus in the world.

  4. Those ambulances are mini hospital in themselves. The reason why it did not go fast was because the doctor feared the movement of the blood due to the speed of the car and the shaking around due to fast driving and tight corners would make more damages than going slowly. The ambulance stopped  en route to give extremely delicate care, any movement during that time could have killed her.

In the US it is the other way around, minimum care in the ambulance while it rushes to the hospital. It is a choice. The autopsy revealed that either way she would have died.

Make you choice. But France medical care is considered among the best in the world. And they don't kick you out if you can't pay.

And what do you think of this?
