I just started jogging for about a half hour a day. Does it burn a lot of calories? And by doing this and keeping a healthy diet will you lose a lot of weight? I just want to tone up my body, is jogging good for that?

  1. swimming is a better calorie burning excersice

  2. well exercise is GREAT BUT jogging/running is horrible on your body.. when you do this... it messes up your knees and for women... it messed up your breast... try going to a gym or something... there is this exercise machine called the elliptical... that would be great for you!

  3. Swimming is great but not everyone has easy access to a pool or the time it takes to get there.  But you can run by going out your front door.

Running is an impact exercise which means you will build bone density - neither swimming or biking can do this.

Studies have shown that runners do not have more knee problems then non runners.  Women do have more knee injuries then men but usually it is from sports like soccer, field hockey, tennis, basketball that require quick turns and changes of directions.

Good shoes, good training practices will minimize knee injuries.

Take a look at runners:  the majority are lean and toned.

Jogging is fine but make sure you are raising your heart rate not just coasting.

  4. Jogging is great for exercise and it tones your thigh/calf muscles....but if you work on it you can get up to running which is even better. Its great that you are jogging though...keep it up =)

  5. Any exercise is good. Calories burned depends on howfast you go & for how long.
