The undefeated Knockout artist Kelly Pavlik is currently 33-0 with 29 KO's, but its very early to compare him to the all time greats but i will anyway. Can guys like hagler, hearns, and lamotta take the right hand flush from Pavlik. Is kelly pavlik the hardest middleweight puncher ever???Bob arum the top rank promoter says kelly pavlik is the hardest punching middleweight he ever seen. I havent seen many but i think he is. But do you think he has the potential to be as good as hagler, and hearns, and if hagler chose to slug and get into a fight like he had against hearns who would win, if you had a pavlik-hearns or pavlik-hagler fight who would win and how?Can he be a all time great? Is he the hardest puncher you ever seen?

  1. well in my opinion...Pavilk is a very hard puncher and very tough fighter but its still far to early to compare him to Hagler, which to me is prolly the best middleweight of all time... while he may later be as good as Hagler... i doubt he could beat Hagler in his prime... but he is definately on his way to becoming a great

  2. He's a good fighter. His chin is questionable though. He was hurt against several fighters including Miranda and Taylor. For someone to say he could beat a A+ fighter like Calzaghe is ridiculous.

  3. He is not great but he is good enough to be champion for the next 3 years.

  4. he is good in my oppinion

  5. Pavlik is a good young figher but he needs to beat someone other than Jermain Taylor before he can lay claim to pound for pound status.

  6. He is a helluva fighter but he has to fight/win against somebody more than Taylor. Taylor hasnt really BEAT anyone. All of his biggest fights were highly disputed and he could never put any big name fighters away. So by Pavlik beating a boxer whos greatness is questionable at best doesnt help him. He will need to fight some of the bigger names out there.

  7. Pavlik has the right skills, he has to be cautious now with two big wins in a row, he don't want to overlook his next opponent because it may not be a top calibur guy, he is on the right track, but I don't really see him being in the upper tier of all time top Middleweights, he the man right now.

  8. Pavlik will be a name remembered in boxing. Every fight he wins will make him a higher profile fighter. His image is very down to earth but the fact is, the guy is downright amazing when steps into the ring. He may not be the hardest right handed punching middle weight, but he ranks high. Pavlik has a jaw of stone and I don't expect him to lose soon. He will only continue to prove himself in upcoming title defense against Duddy, and will also be fighting Trinidad in the near future. There is no way this kid cannot have the respect of Boxing fans all over, he is doing a great thing for the sport and will only continue to grow as a fighter.

  9. As an Arkansan and a Taylor fan I was very upset by the fight.  That being said Pavlik did win it fair and square.  He is simply a better fighter.  I think he is VERY talented and has a bright future in this sport, obviously.  However, I don't think he is an "all time great".

  10. Very Good, I think he's better than either Hopkins or Calzaghe.  Hearns was a welterweight, with a welter weight chin, he wouldn't have been able to take Pavlik's best shot on the chin, Tommy's only real weakness as a fighter was his chin.  I don't think Pavlik measures up historically to guys like Hagler or Lamotta, but Pavlik's career isn't over yet.  Historically he has to finish his career before any accurate comparison can be made.  Right now I think if Hagler and Pavlik fought, both in their primes, Hagler would beat Kelly.  I don't think Thomas Hearns would fair as well against Pavlik, if Tommy had problems, it was because of his chin, and Pavlk would definately test Hearns's chin.

I think it's a bit early to compare Pavlik to the all time greats, he's only been middle weight champ for two fights, time will tell.

  11. I agree it might be a bit to early to just say how good Pavlik is. Although I think he would have knocked out Hagler in the later rounds because Pavlik is not built as a power puncher and would have surprised Hagler as he surprised Taylor, then went on to show that he could adapt to distance and outscore Taylor in the second fight. I think he knocks out all middle -super middle and even move up to light heavy. Miranda was the eye opener, you see he didn't want any more after that brutal knockout, so what's that say for Taylors heart. These guys are the next step up for Pavlik I see NO NO one giving him any problems, but we all thought the same for young Mike Tyson....so let's hope some excitement continues with Pavlik and his crew!!! Calzaghe and Hopkins have no chance either. Pavlik has 33 FIGHT 29 by KO!!!!!

Oh so buy a fighter being hurt does that discredit him of having the possibiltiy of being great...Duh THAT is what great fighters do. He has the height to hold the extra weight, that is why Taylor wanted the extra simply because he thought he would have the advantage. lol he did not!
