Right now I have

Ccleaner

Spybot - Search and Destroy

Glary Utilities

Is there anything I should add or take away to help secure my Windows Vista?

  1. Get rid of them all and just get AVG, that'll be enough - with 5 programs already your kinda over-doing it :P

  2. I have found that Auslogic Disk Defrag is excellent.  They also have a Registry formatter which is good, but don't have to use that much.

I havne't used Ccleaner much because there's too many stories about it cleaning too much stuff, taking stuff you don't want to lose.

I use Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, which seems less intrusive.  But others really like the Ccleaner.

Assuming you are using Spybot as your normal antispyware, I'd add Avira, or Spy Terminator, or AVG as backup.  ONLY run one at a time.  But once a week or every couple weeks, unplug from the internet, and run each cleaning program at a time.  One program does NOT get everything.  And using 2 or 3 will cover about anything that could get thru.

Make sure your windows firewall is turned on, too.  Some feel that it's all you need, but we all know you need more.  Otherwise, you've got a good system.

You might look up "MajorGeeks.com" which has many, many free programs for downloading, depending upon what you need.  I get many of my programs there.  Be sure to look for their "Pick" selection, which means they've tested and found it exceptional program.

  3. It is advisable that not to use LimeWire, Bit Torrents or other torrents, but Internet Download Manager.

    Get Norton Internet Security 2008.

Do not use any other security Softwares

Keep update the Norton Internet Security.

Make sure that the Service Pack 1 is installed Successfully. (a free support is available for SP1 for vista)

    Install all the Windows Updates.

I do have Vista Ultimate with Service Pack 1 installed with Norton Anti Virus about 3 months, it is working as regular.

I used to visit all degreeeeeeeeees of websites, but the computer is virus free.

  4. Nope, all good :)
