How good is the Netflix online selection?

I just canceled my cable TV. I think that On-line steaming Netflix can be as good as my old cable TV but I'm not sure about that.So my question is ...

What type of movies are in the Netflix on-line service?

Where can I check all the list of those movies without applying for the Netflix?

Can anybody give me and example of 4 or 5 great movies on Netflix online service?

Thank you : )

  1. I've been a member of Netflix for 4 yrs. Go to their website www.netflix.com & browse their DVD selections (you can browse first before you decide to become a member). Being a horror & sci fi buff, I've found a lot of older movies on Netflix - horror/sci-fi classics from the 50s. They also have musicals, concert footage, sports & TV shows by season. I found their selection to be very huge & I can usually find something I want to watch - sometimes movies that I've never heard of before & then they're a gem to discover.

  2. It's great if you like entire seasons of shows like Heroes. They have a lot of TV shows. The movie selection is average at best. A lot of no-name movies are listed there which I'll never watch. They are updating everyday. It IS worth the money though, you're getting a lot of movies for the price of two Hollywood/Blockbuster rentals per month streaming directly into your computer.

  3. Send me your email address.  I'll send you an invite to try netflix for free

    for 30 days.

I think the online section is great.  I have watched a lot of movies on it.

Netflix has actually teamed up with Microsoft and soon you will be able to watch any movie, ANY, through Netflix through your Xbox Live account or a soon to be released TIVO type device.  I know it isn't TIVO but it is a similar style of box to purchase.

  4. I did the same thing a few months ago and have been using Netflix Watch Now.  The selction is mostly older or 'B' movies but they do have classics and some newer ones.  I watched '...Spotless Mind' a while ago.  They also have History Channel Docs and other special interest videos.  There is a great search by category and genre feature and the movie quality is better than any other download or streaming source I have found.  I have unlimited movies for $16.99/month and I also get 3 DVD'd at a time.  In Atlanta, I get the movies in about 2 days turn around time.  I think it is worth it.

If you find someplace better, let me know.  I also rent on-line at Movielink.  Great quality but takes a little while (20 mins or so) to download.  I cain't wait until the networks start broadcasting on the internet.
