How good is the diving in Varadero, Cuba?

Ideally i would like to do my Padi course if it isnt too expensive. Anyone know how good Varadero is for diving? If so how much for a beginners Padi course or how much for an uncertified dive?

In my experience the driving in cuba is rubbish.  Oh sorry you said diving! My mistake
