The top floor is always convenient because it's close to pools and recreation. However, if you tend to get motion sick, the top floor is not a good choice.

Okay, lets get you started by thinking in nautical terms. It would be the top deck and not top floor you are thinking about.

Remember, in a ship, you feel the least motion in the middle of a ship midway in the vertical aspect of the construction. That is why restaurants are most often found in the middle of the ship.

If you are afraid of heights and have a balcony cabin, you do not want to be on the top deck if you plan on sitting outside and enjoying your balcony. On some ships you can be 12 apartment floors above waterline, or more!

There is no social status connected to the top deck. Premium cabins are now spread throughout the ship. Look at the lay out of the ship and note where they premium penthouse cabins exist. Often, they are mid ship or toward the bow or stern. Not always on the "top floor."

My rule when booking a cabin is to avoid being just over the lifeboats or under them. As often the lifeboats are used as tenders to take you to shore where the ship is too large to dock at  a pier, you do not want to be awoken by the sound of the boats being prepared and lowered.

well it all depends on the whcih carnival ship you are talking about but i would say that all the top floor or more over all the floors on carnival are great cause each one have kind of the same everything only thing some may have balconies others wont.
