  1. All depends on what you enjoy in life; and which state you are planning on migrating to... lots of space around you in WA with a country feel; whilst Some of the others states give you more of a city feel.  Just make sure you land up in the state that suits your personality best... (sounds corny... I know; but it's true...)

  2. My family is also considering migrating there. That country is said to be pollution-free. l'd like to find out for myself.

    Good luck.

  3. Hi Smartie,

You seem like a nice, intelligent guy. I would like to help you with your question, especially since I am a migrant to Australia. My parents brought my brothers and I to Australia through business immigration roughly 16 years ago, the main purpose was for my brothers to escape compulsory military service once they reach 18. My dad was recommended Australia by his business partner (who is a true Australian), and he himself saw firsthand what a lovely place it was. Back in my home country, it is really polluted, and you hardly see the blue sky.

Over here in Australia, I can tell you the positives:

    * Generally friendly, helpful people (it's the Aussie culture)

    * Clean sand, beautiful beaches (not to mention the rainforests, bushlands, exquisite gardens, huge grasslands etc)

    * Truly multicultural, both from the culinary perspective and people-wise.

    * People are very much into sport and has more of a team-feel, rather than being selfish individuals

    * Freedom of speech and belief

    * One of the best social security systems in the world.

    Cons:

*Australia is far from most other countries, could be a bit isolated.

*Australia is a bit slower in technology and other things, sometimes following US' lead, but takes a while

*Tax rate is one of the highest. If you earn, say $100K per annum, you will be taxed at something like 40%. (but the high tax is why you get very good social security system including high class medicare compared to the rest of the world).

Since you're a software professional, I'll comment a bit on software industry here. For those who are good at what they do, they will have no trouble finding a job at a good company. It is those who are not so good or have bad interpersonal skills that have trouble.

    Hope these help.
