How good is your knowledge of European geography and customs checkpoints?

This is just a fun, hypothetical situation. Some friends of mine were talking about a WWII movie where some people had to escape the n***s, and hence evade border checkpoints.

Europe now has the "Schengen" territories, covering most of Europe. Here's the game: pretend it's wartime, and you have to get out of Schengen without running the risk of passport control, just like in a WWII movie. How would it be done? Example: would you try for Switzerland, or Turkey? Could you realistically drive to the edge of Schengen considering the whole area is supposed to be "borderless"?

  1. Well many of the main southern European roads eventually lead to the non-Schengen countries of Croatia and Serbia.  Turkey would be an eventual destination to escape, but immediately I would head for Belarus or Ukraine.  These have minimal checkpoints and can then be easily trotted through to reach firther destinations such as Moscow or Turkey.  I would escape through Romania or any of the eastern countries south of Ukraine since the Schengen Agreement has them paritally implemented, and planned to fully implement later.
