How good of a camera is the Canon Rebel?

That is what I am looking into buying...is it good for Photography? I don't want to spend a thousand dollars either.

  1. Yes, the Rebel helped out a lot of Photographers while starting out.  And I heard that the one who won PopPhoto's photographer of the year contest used this for his images.
