  1. Obviously, it depends where you work/live and what you are used to.

Are you a native American?  Non-German European?  Retiree?

Are you going to live in a place with good public transportation?  Or in a rural area where you'd need a car/motorbike?

At 60,000, you'd be earning more than the "average" German, so you should be enjoying a lifestyle that is as good as the average German.

  2. Depends a bit on whether you are single or have children to support etc. If you're used to the kind of lifestyle that involves (in a nutshell) eating out once in a while but not three times a week, 60k is fine. Also, consider where you are going to live. Frankfurt,  Munich, Hamburg - expensive. Berlin, Dortmund, smaller cities - not so much. People with a good university degree and relatively fresh out of uni are probably at around 40k.

  3. Actually thats pretty decent in my opinion. The best job offers I get (with a masters degree) are around 42000 before taxes.

  4. You will be have a good life in Germany by this income.

Right now for Military the rate is $0,70 for 1 Euro. And remember in Germany is the prices are higher than in US.

  5. Depends on where you live. 60K euro is ok, it would get you further in the states (ie: 69K usd). In the larger cities, an apartment will probably cost you 700-800 euro per month, in a good district with a one bedroom. Everything is more expensive in Germany, groceries, clothing, gas..etc. Also, taxes in Germany are extremely high, so if 60K is before taxes, expect to bring home about 35-40K after taxes.

I would hold out for more money if I were you.
