How good was alan shearer and what player is he compared to?What's his most impressive achievement and what does he do now

Good summation from Guest7635 above IMO.  Shearer is definitely a STRONG contender to be listed amongst the top 5-10 forwards that England has ever produced.  He's the career leading goalscorer in the Premier Lge., he's on the top 10 list of careeer English 1st Div./EPL scorers, and he's tied w/Tom Finney & Nat Lofthouse for joint 5th on the England (NT) career w/30 goals.  Shearer also won the Golden Boot (leading goalscorer) award at Euro '96. So the stats show that Shearer definitely knew how to put the ball in the net IMO.
    I'd say that during the peak of Shearer's career there two different versions: the first was as a dynamic, active centre-forward who beat defenders w/pace, got into a lot of 1v1 situations w/opposing 'keepers, etc.  For purposes of comparison, you could think of this Shearer version as sort of a Gabriel Batistuta meets Derek Kevan combination.  Later on in Shearer's career, say around Euro 2K, injuries had robbed him of much of his athleticism & explosiveness.  Shearer then evolved into much more of the prototypical British mould target man: using positioning to win aerial duels, etc.  Again, for purposes of comparison, you could say that this Shearer version was somewhat like a Geoff Hurst meets Vic Keeble combo.
    Looking up footage of Shearer in action on YouTube is an excellent idea IMO.  If you want to see the "Shearer 1.0" era of him playing search under somethink like "Alan Shearer Blackburn" or watch footage of him in action from Euro '96.
