  1. Congrats on your 5 years Honey

Here is my review for the Whydam

Check In : Very quick and easy, got a free upgrade to C tower without even asking.

Room : Huge, fantastic sea view, nice balcony, double sink dressing area, OK bathroom with bath and shower. Flat screen TV and large comfortable bed.Very clean.

Pool: Very nice large pool, good temperature, inflatables available to lie on, swim up bar.

    Beach: Fantastic!

Food: Didn't eat in the hotel as we went down town, Starbucks was useful in the hotel for Coffee & Tea.

    Price: Good value for money

Other stuff: Catch the bus for$1 to go downtown, Nassau does shut up at about 6.30pm apart from Senor Frogs bar and resturant. Go out to Fish Fry in the evening for food and drinks.

Taxis are expensive but after 7pm you have no other means of transport as buses stop at this time.

Weather was great in June despite threats of storms, really hot and sunny every day.

  2. I don't mean to scare you/put you off, but the bahamas (nassau especially) are kind of a c**p hole.  dirty and touristy, and the people in town at the straw market and surrounding areas are pushy pushy hustlers. if you don't plan on leaving the resort, i guess it would be nice.  i looked in to a hotel for 10 nights PLUS airfare to saint maarten (which is absolutely freaking gorgeous and wonderful caribbean and european heaven on earth) and it was a little over $1000 per person. the upside to nassau is you can get "designer" bags and sunglasses etc., DIRT cheap, if you're willing to haggle a little. never take the first offer, hardly ever take the 2nd offer, settle on the third. i always say i'd have fun with my husband if we were sitting around a bug zapper balancing our checkbook (might be pushing it a little, but still) so as long as you're together, you should have a blast. you might check out one of the cruise websites and see what sorts of shore excursions they offer for their guests in the bahamas and see if you can find something similar offered through the resort or independent companies. have a great anniversary!

  3. Congratulations on your 5th Anniversary.

The one thing you must do is the New Year's Junkanoo

Nassau's Bay Street lights up each year for Junkanoo - an adrenalin rush of colours, costumes and floats driven by the beat of the goatskin drum. This is a festival unique for its raw Afro-Caribbean flavour. Spectators line Bay Street from about 2am until 8am. A mounting clamour of bells, whistles and goombay drums throbs forward to the rhythm of the music until dawn streaks across the sky, revealing revellers in extraordinary costumes.

Be sure to check out The Atlantis on Paradise Island. For about $100 you can get a visitors pass and enjoy the resort and water parks.

Go on a boatsail, do a snorkel excursion, swim with the dolphins.

Have a great time. The water is awesome)
