Question:

How green does the UK have to be, for China to clean up its act?

The governement and the greens go on about UK hobbling itself with environmental restrictions.

They admit that these expensive anti-competitive restrictions will make no direct difference to the globabl environment. However they say that it must be done to demonstrate to the rest of the world (particularly China) that it can be done, and that these other countries will then follow the UK example.

So my question is -- how green do we have to get for any one else in the world to take any notice, and then follow our example?

  1. lol.. we could not be green enough. so long as there is profit in not being green  the nations making it will never try to be more than a token green

they will make a lot of money from you and i in tax. all the while doing nothing but  pay lip service the the ecco problems. the world is suffering.

it is about profit , greed and power

  2. Its a sobering thought that after hearing all the hype and statistics  that are  banded  about  blurted  out and  whined out by  politicians  , Green  peace  and  Friends  of the  earth  and  other pressure groups over  UK emissions of co2, Its a fact that  It make  no difference to china whether the  UK  has any  co2 emissions at all. In fact it  probably makes  no difference to  the  whole  world, since the  UK share of the total co2 emission is  less than 2%..  thats  right less than 2%.. The  fact is the  Uk could cut  its emissons of  co2 to zero and  it  wouldnt  make the  slightest  diffirence to  the global warming problem..

  3. its also done to generate billions of wonga, that wouldnt be in certain peoples pockets.

being green globally has nothing to do with saving the planet.

  4. no one is going to be directly influenced by the fact that we have gone green but by developing new skills and technologies we can help countries like china to go greener.

A good example is that of new low emission coal power plants.  This technology has been developed in the UK and there are currently several UK companies working in china to help them design new, less polluting coal  power plants.

These are the way in which britain can make a difference to the rest of the world.
