  1. Well, if you cant even write your question and have it make sense, it will be impossible.

  2. I thought it was hard, however, I did get a 5 on the AP test. The funny thing is that I could barely keep a B in the class for the entire year and ended up with a 5, and I know several people who pretty much got A+'s all year and didn't get a 5 on the test.

I love that cause its kind of a slap in the face to everyone who thought I was a terrible writer.  :)

The nice thing about the AP test is that if you do really really well on one section, you can afford to only do mediocre on the other and you can still get a five.

  3. I thought it was pretty difficult (I attend a British-style school where we don't do English as in 'English Language' the way Americans do; we do something called 'General Paper' where we basically write argumentative essays like 'Why should we study history if we seem to keep repeating it?' in English), because the question types were not very familiar to me, especially those requiring analysis of rhetoric (something I last did in class in Grade 7). But reading comprehension's still reading comprehension, so that was pretty easy. The essays were of a completely different type from what I usually do, so I just wrote whatever came to mind, and as much as I could within the time limit.

I wasn't terribly confident about it, but I scored a 5. I hence came to the conclusion that while the exam itself is undoubtedly pretty hard overall (especially the essay bits), it doesn't take a really high raw score to get a 5. Also, as long as you're good in the use of English (meaning in using it to express yourself in general with accuracy and some degree of elegance), even if you don't really study 'English Language' as in the details on register, tone, rhetorical devices, etc, you can still do pretty well.

English's like a skill. As long as you have a good subconscious grasp of it the exam shouldn't be too daunting. I don't know how I'd fare in a standard AP English course, but I bet I wouldn't do terribly well (still I've never tried, and never will get to). I guess being forced to take so many exams in my education system has trained me to be a good test-taker subconsciously, but I do get the feeling that exam-smartness gets one less far in AP English as compared to say, Comparative Government or Human Geography.

Just my four cents' worth. ^ ^

  4. Like any AP course, it's tough.  So, study hard and you should do well!
