I'm in yr 11 and about to go to college and i was told by my career advisor that in order to take engineering i must take physics and maths at A level in order to do engineering as my occupation when im older. He advised me to take two subjects i think would enjoy and the remaining two was subjects was subjects i had to do, so overall i choose maths, physics, economics and psychology. However i am worried of how difficult maths and physics may be. I had the opportunity to take gsce maths early and i achieved a B, since then i have retaken the paper in May to get an higher result, i don't know what this new result is seeing as the full gcse paper results havent be published yet.So i gusse my question is how hard is mathematics and physics at A level? and if i do end up with a B in maths do you believe i would struggle in maths? by the way i achieved a B in the higher maths paper. Also please only post sensible answers

  1.    Maths and physics has never been and will never be hard to a student who is concious when solving any question of the two subjects.First you must love them and never fear them, second improve on your speed and don't loose concentration while in class as well in exam room. Student who think math is hard and fear it do very many careless mistakes while solving an equation and only scores marks on those topics which they like.So face it in it entirity, love and practice all topics in the two subject.

  2. Hey ,

I just finished my 12th and i did AL Maths and AL Physics .

All i wanna say to you that both of subjects are easy not tooo easy but they require lots of hard work . AL Physics theory might be a bit difficult but thier question answers are easy . However , A2 Maths is opposite . You will find it easy in understanding but question are a bit difficult but they can be solved if you concentrate well . Furthermore , it doesnt matter what you got in you did in your GCSE cuz i know some of my friends didnot do good in their O.Levels but they did Excellent in their A.Levels . Moreover , taking maths and physics is another adavntage for you cuz they support each other in understanding like in A.Level Physics there is Simple Harmonic Motion . Circular Motion , and Projectiles . A. Level Maths will help you alot :) . Also remember that if you dont understand something the first time dont hesitate ask your teacher to explain and you will get it the second time . oh before i forget,  in A.Level Maths you might find Vectors really hard and the key to success in it is to listen EACH AND EVERY WORD your teachers says and understand it , Trust me :) . Well if you need any help you can always email me just go to my profile and email me . If you wanna chat then email i will add you in my Yahoo .

Dont worry you will do great and Best of luck

  3. As iam also a student, what i thing is, there are not too much differences between physics and mathematics. U might have seen there are lot of things that are similar in mathematics and also in physics.(like there are too many mathematical  formules that are still used in physics.) as u had told, that u got be B in maths and u had not told us about ur physics in u thinking that ur physics is fine. these are the only two subject which needs good understanding and they are the scoring one also.If u are able to undertsand maths than u will be able to solve the questions in single minutes. And i had seen  there is also scycological effect in  some children mind that maths is difficult but which is actually not it is also a nice subject in which u can score full marks. just think the time u are studying u should properly concentrate on what u doing. Than everything will be appears to be simpler. remove ur scycological effect.

  4. It not hard at all, of course I am a major in math. You should be fine. Just listen and take good notes. Ask Question's if you don't understand and I'm sure what ever colleges you attend, should they have tutors to help you.
