I want to take it but I am afraid that I might not get an A. Does it required a lot of writing such as essays? Please tell me in detail what the class required. any answer is appreciated. Thank!

  1. It all depends on your teacher. Some teachers are harder on you than others, but none of them are easy.

I recommend you take the class if you are will to learn and take on a challenge, not because you want an A. Don't worry too much if you get a B. Colleges prefer you take a college level class and get a B than if you take a regular class and get an A.

You will have to study, and study hard for the class tests. The ones I had were very detailed.

For the big AP test, it's not about studying the big stuff, but about getting the big picture. This will not be too hard if you work hard all year and if you get a study book (the Princeton Review helped me sooo much).

The part I hated about the class was the essays, but if you are a good writer, are prepared, do all your hw, and pass your tests, then you shouldn't stress about them too much. I used to get low scores on the writing (ironically enough, I was praised in my English class for my writing) because I was horrible at time management. I've never been a fast writer. But I still ended up with an A both semesters because I never missed a hw assignment and always got above a B on tests.

This class will not be easy and is definitely for over-achievers, but don't let anyone tell you you can't do it. You just have to work really hard for it. I learned so much in that class.

  2. my sista took it she's pretty smart like straight a's but she had a teacher that gave a lot of work and stuff. they did a lot of dbq's [ document based question] like they make you read something and answer questions. she got an a ni the class but like a 1 on the test i heard that most of my school failed the test. but idk . yuo can try it and i doubt that an a is that hard to get if you work hard all year but dont worry if you dont do all that well on the  test b/c at leasst the ap class will look good.

  3. Yes, there is a lot of essay writing in the class. There are document based questions, compare and contrast and change over time. There is also a lot of reading, I remember the textbook, at least at my school, was big and had small print and very few pictures, so that made it harder to read.

However, my teacher was cool and let us play games where we were in groups that corresponded to a country, like one group would be China, and another would be the US. We would play games and earn points, at the end of the year, whoever got the most points got a bonus on the final.
