Question:

How hard is a tongue ring to hide?

I'm thinking about getting my tongue pierced, but I don't really want my parents to know (and yes, I'm old enough - I'm 20! I just don't think they'd approve but I really want to get it done) So anyway, I was just wondering how hard it is to hide, after the initial swelling goes down. I'm currently in college so I only see them every 3 weeks or so, do you think it would be very noticeable after three weeks (aka swelling, pain, eating funny, slurred speech, ect) Also, how long does it take for your speech to become normal again? Thanks!

  1. umm im not gonna rant on you or anything but your parents dont have control over you anymore and if you are afraid they will look down on you for it be strong and dont take their judgment personally its not their life its yours. but anyways, you can get clear jewelry. your speech should be ok from 2-3 days after the piercing. your tongue well thats a hard one to say when the swelling will go down its different with everyone..just please make sure you take very good care of it, dont let the fact that you dont want them to see it get in the way of taking care of it. DO NOT TAKE IT OUT until at least 2 weeks and it should only be done to change jewelry.

  2. If you're 20, who cares!

Just do it! theres not much your parenst can do?

But if you really want to hide it, you can.

My friend had her tongue peirced and she hid it for a year. She has braces too so she managed to hide it from the dentist. Just take it out and put it back in after. Eventually, she got tired and took it out.

She had clear ones when she was at home and when she went out, she changed it to green or blue or w/e other color she liked.

YOu can also use pink or red.

  3. my friend had her tongue pierced and didnt want her pairents to know... she didnt manage to hide it for long though because she clicks it against her teath in her sleep.

appart from that, she said it took her about 2 days for her tongue to stop being swowlen. during those 2 days, she could bairly talk and could only really eat soup without chocking.

i dont think they would notice atall after 3 weeks

just make sure you get a bottle of disinfectant to go with your piercing, and have it down properly. cause if you get an infection, it will swell up for much longer.

  4. They have skin colored tongue rings, and clear ones, look at bodycandy.com only problem is you cant change the piercing for about 8 weeks. The swelling will significantly go down in about a week with ibuprofen. I dont they would notice unless you were playing with it and flashing it at them. speech is normal after the swelling has decreased, so about a week.

  5. I have my tounge pierced and it didn't take to long for my speech to go back to normal because i already have a sort of accent. It's pretty hard to hide though seeing as it's usually a giant silver ball on your tounge but if you get a smaller one then you mite be able to hide it. Why don't you just ask them what they think r sumething. Good Luck

  6. no theyre not hard to hide. they have clear and flesh colored rings that blend in and you cant hardly notice. when i had mine done it was swollen for 3-4 days and i had a lisp.lol. but that got better after about a week.
