This is going to be my first time starting cross country at my high school, and although I was in shape in the beginning and the middle of summer, I've lost some of my running power by the end of August because I moved. Can I make it? How how hard is cross country in high school?

  1. Cross country really isn't as hard as people make it out to be. Most practices are pretty laid back and no ones gonna be super hard on you for not being the fastest. I know people who just do xc to lose weight or get in shape for their winter sport.

So don't psych yourself out and remember that everyone's going through the same pain as you, even the fast kids. And that you should try your hardest not to walk or quit. Its ok to walk a few steps but it gets harder and harder to start running again. Just keep telling yourself that this WILL NOT kill you (your coaches wouldn't make you do something your not capable of) and focus on staying with the person in front of you

    Good luck!! :)

  2. XC is really not that hard, especially if you practice, it's loads of fun and a great way to stay healthy!

  3. I won't say XCC is easy but it is fun.  You will most likely be running 3 or 3.1 miles in competition so it's not too far to run.  Work on your distance but don't get caught up into running tons of miles, a 10 mile run will do less good for you than a quick 5 mile run.  Do speed work as 3 miles will soon become a very short race to you (less than 20 minutes).  Enjoy your time during XCC season, enjoy the mud, snow, and hills because track is kinda boring when you run two miles in a circle

  4. Like everyone else is say to you, I'm not going to lie cross country is not an easy sport, it is definitely the hardest sport i've done, but is also the funnest. Totally give it a shot and don't be to to psyched out by it. Good Luck

  5. mk im gonna get straight to the point.

cross country is really hard. but worth it.

hope you run and have fun with it!

  6. I'm not going to lie to you, it's not easy but it's the most fun I've ever had in my life. It may differ for coaches and how well you're looking to do, but as far as my team goes it is work. Cross Country is like a family though, a tight little co-ed family, really they are like my brothers and sisters to me. It won't kill you and once you build up after the first week or so and get in shape, practice will be no problem. You can do it! Most definitely, go for it! You're coach will shape you up and get you ready for the season, no problem! JOIN AWAY! It's great, you won't regret it.
