  1. OMG thats so easy!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats half of our warm ups on mi swim team!!!!!!!!  I do hundreds of laps a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Not at all, I swim a 6000meters every morning! :)

  3. hi im 11 and i am on the swim team and i have dome a 500 meater in backstroke. just pace yourself and dont give up. it takes alot of practice though.

  4. If your in shape its not that bad. May seem a little long though. Just think about how lucky you are that you dont have to swim 60 laps.

  5. a 500 isn't bad at all if you dont care how fast you swim it. It is a great way to build muscle and lose weight. Don't worry about your "time" if your not training for competition. Just remember to breathe every third stroke to each side and you should be fine.

GOOD LUCK..any more swim questions feel free to contact me

  6. Under 15 minutes is probably my guess for you.

500m is really easy. Use your best stroke that you dont get tired (usually breaststroke) that lets you last forever.

    Under 10minutes 500 too isn't hard either.

  7. so it rlly depends on if your a distant swimmer or a sprint swimmer.  I personally am a distance swimmer (for about 7 years or so) and its super easy! but thats only cuz i have a lot of endurance. try swimming everyday like the first day do a 100 then the next day do a 150 and just keep adding on a 50 everyday until u reach 500 then just keep swimming that for like a week but trust me i practice 9 times a week for a usa swim team and i swim like a 4000 each practice so if you work for it a 500 is easy as pie!

  8. its really not that bad.. im not a long distance person..i no for life guarding u need to do it under a certain amount of time..it may seem long but i count by one hundreds..(4 laps) so its only 5 of them. on 100s 3 and 4 is where u need to concentrate on..everybody slows down in the middle..try to kick just a tiny bit harder in the middle...GOOD LUCK! <3

  9. well personally when I'm swimming more than 300m i just count strokes until I'm done, if i just count how many meters i get discouraged and get tired more easily. the cool thing is that if you keep doing it, you with notice your stroke count gets smaller.

  10. If u mean 500m which is 10 laps of an Olympic size pool, it is easy for breast-stroke and needs additional effort for front-crawl or the life-saving stroke using scissors kick.  Train to swim 20 - 40 laps to the best of your ability, frequently, and you should pass easily, as your water treading ability shows. All you need is additional stamina for distance. Cheers!!

  11. I raced the 500 for about 3 years, and its not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.  If its not a timed thing just take it easy, and i would stick to freestyle if you can do it.  Breaststroke would take forever.

  12. A five hundred is only twenty laps. Im 13 and I can swim 36 nonstop fine. Ive yet to see if I can do more. I doubt youll have any problem as long as you have decent endurance. For the best results, try to eat healthy all day before and get alot of rest. Good luck!

  13. I used to be a competitive swimmer, and a 500 is one of the races that is commonly swam. If you are swimming it for a time, I'll admit it's rather tiring, but I believe for the lifeguarding test you just have to do it in under 20 minutes, or somewhere around there. In that case, you can probably just swim it at your leisure, especially since you seem to be pretty strong in the water already. So I would say it wouldn't be too hard for you!
