  1. The job - I don't know because I'm not one yet.  I have two friends who are, though, and they love their work, but think long and hard about if the pay (which is good) is worth getting attached to your patients - and you will - and they pass on - and THEY will.

Getting into school - HARD.  The only school here only takes 15 students a year; they get over 300 apps.  I applied last year (I'm accepted into next year.)  I have a 4.0 and a graduate degree in chemistry, also 4.0, and several semesters of physics.  I also have years of hospital experience, and i strongly suspect my acceptance had to do with having a good friend who is a radiation oncologist who mentioned my name to the admission committee.  They look for a well rounded person - has a genuine interest in the field, not just the $40/hr starting wage.  My school required 10 references, and minimum GPA of 3.7

So it's hard to get in here.  Other places may be a little easier, but it is a high demand, high paying job, with few schools.

Best of luck to you, though~~ It can be done!
