How hard is it to add a heat pump to central air and how much does it cost?

We are thinking about buying a house that has gas heat and central air. I was just wanting to know how hard is it to add a heat pump and the price of it.

You need a lot more information to determine cost.  You need to add an outdoor condensing unit, an indoor coil, inter-connecting refrigeration piping and control and power wiring.  The difficulty of installation, size of unit, availability of power, cost of labor in your area will all greatly effect the price.  Call a couple of local contractors.  They give free estimates.  If they do not do a load calculation to determine the unit size beware.  They are just guessing.
