How hard is it to become a Coast Guard PA?

Question

I'm currently in college- majoring in political science and minoring in broadcast journalism. I also have 3 years of news experience, including hurricane coverage.

Would I get preference with my college degree and experience? If I can't be a PA, is there a close alternative that will help me get the job eventually?

It's my dream to be serve in the military and be a journalist.

It isn't hard but the training school is every 18 months. You might have to wait a year and half to become one at the enlisted ranks. You can only do it enlisted. You can become a Public Affairs officer in the Navy. You can also enlist as a mass communications specalist.
