How hard is it to become a Surf Instructor?

Do you have to be an amazing surfer? Have a lot of money? What do you even do to become one and is it fun?

  1. Like the guy before me mentioned pro surfer is a shoo in.  You don't even need to be sposnored, I'm not and I'm a part time instructor, I'm 15.  You don't need a lot of money as long as your instructing for another company.  You need to be 14 years old or older.  It's a very rewarding job.  The pay is alright and to top it off, you get to show them how to surf sometimes.  One kid wanted me to surf with him while he was on the board, lol I cant believe I forgot the proper name it's either tandem or tantrem.  Ok well you just have to show them you can surf maybe do a few tricks, get up a few times, maybe catcch a good wave or something and show your'e patient and kind.That's it.  Hope this helps.


  2. Well, I would imagine anyone on the pro surf circuit and has there name out there could be a surf instructor. Or maybe a good place to start could be on a cruise ship or water park where they have a fake surf.

    And good balance would help.
