  1. Everything the above poster said is correct. You need to have something to offer our economy. They will not let you in if you are not a skilled worker, in a field we are lacking. Better get started now, if you are looking to immigrate. There are about 900,000 people who are eligible ahead of you already.

  2. Unlike the States, Canada has a points system to use so basically anyone with a sum of so many point can immigrate here. Its based on level of education, knowledge of english and french language, age, work experience, arranged employment, adaptability, proof of funds and whether or not you have a criminal background.

  3. The proper question should be ..........

How hard is it to become a legal immigrant ?

Immigration approval comes first, AFTER you apply for it.

Then, after living and working in Canada for a minimum of 3 years, you can apply to become a citizen of Canada. It is not an automatic process to become a citizen.

You have to study for the tests, and  attend the personal interview, then after you have completed  the citizenship  process, you attend a swearing in ceremony, to be come a citizen of Canada.
