  1. Real hard.  A DUI is one of the red flags for law enforcement.  However, it depends upon how long ago it was, how old you were at the time, and what you have done since then.

  2. Having been in the military I can understand making that poor choice and getting busted. You pay your price and move on. I don't think that will interfere with you becoming a fine officer. However, since DUI could be an indication of a drinking problem, most departments will want to see some time elapse from then until you are hired. Someone said for Texas its 10 yrs... other places may be a shorter wait. I'm glad you are interested in Law Enforcement and I'm sure you have learned from your "mistake" Good luck

  3. In the state of Texas you cannot have had a DWI (DUI) conviction within the last 10 years. Under TX law you cannot carry a concealed handgun if convicted of a Class A or higher in the last ten years, thus preventing you of becoming an officer.

  4. I hope it is difficult to.

I respect you being in the military, but I would not respect you being an officer. I think that it would be wrong for you to stop and arrest people for something that you yourself are guilty of.

I have never DUI or DWI. I have every right to enforce that.
