  1. Most colleges have a pre-med program that you should look into.  They will have professors who can help you pick classes.  After four years of college you may need a year or so of work experience, maybe not, it depends on the medical school that you want to apply to.  Medical school is two years of classroom work followed by rotations where you work with various different doctors.  After you finish that you pick a specialty, if any, and you begin your residency.  The length of your residency depends greatly on the specialty.  A GP might need a year and a vascular surgeon might need four or more years.  On the up side, you get paid a small salary during your residency.

  2. it can be very hard especially if you use your textbook money for a big crazy party in belgium. try locating the endoplasmic squartium majora with no textbook. it's next to impossible. i found it but i was always pretty good at pin the tail on the donkey, thank goodness.

  3. Stick with all sciences, and maths, expect at least four years, and as much as six with your speciality, you must have a degree in medicine, which will include such things as anatomy , chemistry, physiology, gynaecology, hygiene principles, and spend some time in general practise, to gain diagnostic skills, it is not a matter of intelligence that will make you a success, but of application and character, when you are exhausted from 100 hour weeks, can you still go on, can you stick to the workload, for the learning that you need to do ? and do it for nearly six years, put in perspective a 1950's Dr, only needed to remember about 80 diagnostics tests, a current one needs to know over 600, that is the challenge facing you , do not forget this, it is a matter of determination, and application, that will see you succeed or fail....if you go for it you must not give up, to do so, is to have wasted an opportunity that someone else could have had, and missed, because you were given the chance, that they might have been able to meet....
