How hard is it to become a successful film producer?

Film producers are usually the ones who put up the money to get a movie made - especially executive producers. Or in the case of Jerry Bruckhiemer or George Lucas, they are uber directors oversee the entire project rather than the daily details of the director.

The main thing that would be required to become a successful producer is money to get movies made. Or the ability to network and line up the money from other people. Unless you have your own money to put up, then you would probably need to have established connections with major players in Hollywood, or hold the rights to a project that someone else wants to make.

The odds of finding yourself in a position where you could begin to produce films is slightly higher than the odds of winning both the New Jersey State Lottery  and being struck by lighting on the same day. It is not a profession which it would be possible to prepare oneself for through college studies and most producers had successful careers in business before becoming producers. Producers would enjoy none of the creative joys of making movies and would become very conservative and cautious individuals because they would be responsible for great amounts of money in situations where they would not have much control over the final outcome of a process.

Chances are you would rather want to have another career, and even if you don't the chances of you becoming a successful film producer are slim to none.

Easy if you have lots of money. You'll need and outgoing personality, business and marketing skills if you don't. These may help give you a better idea of how a producer operates.
