  1. You can write off air traffic controller then.  I have a buddy who got accepted into air traffic controller training in the Air Force, and he's one of the few who made it -- the wash-out rate is around 75%.  He also indicated it was a very stressful job -- that's why he got out of it.

  2. it nis not that hard if you can master all the things or if you can control more than 1000 planes all year

  3. Well, being an air traffic controller is not an easy job. It's known as the most stressful job in the world. So it doesn't meet your criteria there.

Just for your information (and to correct the others). The general public can apply right now on the website, the hiring process is brutal and takes months to years to get in. (I applied April 2007 and should be leaving for OKC in May 2008.) You have to get randomly selected to take the AT-SAT which is an aptitude exam, not something you can study for. Then you have to make a referral list to only potentially get an interview from. Then after the interview you still have to pass a 2nd class medical, psych exam, thorough FBI background investigation, etc. Then training for 3 mos. in OKC, yes they have a high washout rate, but it isn't 75%. Back in the day is was about 50%, today because of the accuracy of the AT-SAT it has brought it down to about 10% or so. Still once you are done in OKC you go to your facility and train (depending on the volume of traffic and how quickly you pick things up) for another year to 4 years before you're certified. You can still washout which it happens often. And all the while you're not making a whole lot of money until you're certified. Even then it depends on how busy the facility is and the busiest isn't making more than a CPA.

So if you're looking for easy ATC isn't it. If you're looking for easy and has good pay, good luck. Sorry to tell you, but most people have to work for what they have.
