  1. easy...i fel better I miss nothing

  2. Being vegan is suprisingly easy! I, too, thought that vegans must eat salads and beans all day everyday.  But how wrong could I be!!

I don't miss any foods because all foods have a vegan substitute nowadays.  Vegan cheese, soy yogurt, almond/rice/soy/hemp milk, veggie burgers, vegan sausages, vegan cheesecake, vegan marshmallows, etc.

I rarely use the alternatives though, except for soymilk because I am loving eating whole foods.  I have a newfound acceptance of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, etc.

It's so easy a caveman could do it!

  3. If you are determined to live a cruelty-free lifestyle, it isn't difficult at all. There are many vegan substitutes for the foods you miss (e.g., vegan cheese, vegan burger-type patties) and the benefits far outweigh any of the inconveniences. The feeling of having a clear conscience, of knowing that your choices are saving lives instead of taking them, is by far more worthwhile than any pleasure one might gain from indulging in foods that exist because another gorgeous creature died. Try it! You'll love it. : )

P.S. And I disagree with anyone who says that if you miss foods that have been traditionally animal-derived there is no point... Many of us have grown up with meat in our diets and have had to make adjustments in order to live in accordance with our beliefs. The fact that you are considering being a vegan is simply extraordinary.

  4. It is not hard. Ther are so many substitutes for meat and cheese...

I decided that I am not going to support factory farming anym ore, so I went from meat eating to vegan (because I am a mother and wife AND the one who cooks more often, the family is following me :-)

I don't really miss anything... when I see meat I think about this http://youtube.com/watch?v=VIjanhKqVC4 and then I happily get my soy stuff :-)

  5. Actually it isn't that hard, at least not for me. Provided I do my own shopping, most of the foods I liked before were plant-based anyways. It's a bit harder at restaurants because most of them (the American style family ones) don't have very many options for vegetarians or vegans aside from salads and veggie burgers.

The only time I miss any food is when I actually have to smell it cooking in the kitchen. Particularly if it is comfort type food. Like Chili. (Which fortunately for me, I can make a vegan version of it with tofu instead of meat.)

  6. baby back ribs.. ahahahah and chilli wings ahahah

they taste good... BUT bad for your health.. not worth the risk

  7. Let's see:

Umm yes extremely hard, I am not 1 I could never do it, there is like nothing you can eat.

    Eggs

    Milk

    MEAT!

    yougurt

    cheese

  8. I love being vegan.  I can go to sleep at night knowing that no animals were tortured just so I could eat.

I don't miss anything because there are so many great things I can still eat.

I am healthier, happier, and I know I am doing the right thing.

Try faux meat.  You can use light life ground or any other brand of ground in any recipe that calls for beef.  It's cheaper because a pound of veggie ground is still a pound after it cooks.  It doesn't shrink because theirs no blubber to cook off.

It's been so long since I ate meat that I don't even know that I remember what it tastes like.

    Take care.

  9. Please read up on animal protein & the production of certain amino acids the body needs.  Without animal protein key amino acids can't be made by your body.

Don't just ask folks' opinion on-line about this - be sure to educate yourself.

  10. It does take some time to adjust, but it's really not as difficult as most people imagine. You can transition very gradually... first replace milk with soymilk, then yogurt with soy yogurt, etc. There are many vegan non-dairy products and fake meats; here's a list of some popular ones: http://www.vegcooking.com/guide-favs.asp

I enjoy making vegan versions of my favorite non-vegan foods. For instance, today I enjoyed vegan pumpkin pancakes (breakfast) and pasta with tomato sauce and Nate's Meatless Meatballs (dinner). There really aren't many foods I miss... Cool Ranch Doritos and Sour Cream & Onion chips are the main ones.

    Hope this helps!

  11. It is very easy, I'm 12 years old and loved meat, thought I could never do it and now I dont care for meat.

  12. If you miss animal products than there is no point in you being a vegan or a vegetarian for that matter.

  13. I found it very easy to first of all go off of meat, but because  my mom doesn't shop a ton for fruits and soys because she can't remember them, the vegan thing has been slightly difficult.

But once you get it, it's completely worth it. The biggest thing i've found is that it gives you a huge boost of self confidence, the one thing i really needed. It really makes you feel more important when your going with instict other than against instict

(instict meaning the way we react when we see these animals getting killed, covered by the early teachings of animal-product use that most of us are taught at young ages)

  14. One word...CHEESE!!!

  15. Well I am not vegan, I really want to go vegan but I keep going back and forth about whether or not this is reall feasible for me, living at home. Mostly cuz my family is not to accomadating and they think its extreme, they are already having a hard enough timw with vegetarain. We each have to do what is realistic for our own lives. Depending on your living situation, independance, family, friends, commitment, it may be challenging, or relatively simple. SOme people like to go gradually, giving up meat, then eggs, then cheese, or whatever, until they are totally vegan, so may be it would help you to do things that way. Also, if you are going to go vegan you should consider non-food products. vegans will also not use shampoos, conditioners, lotions, or make-up that contains animal products. You may also think about leather in hand bags or shoes.
