  1. previous posters are correct, it is an easy job... IF.. the car is not rusty

If you live where there is snow, or the car has been exposed to road salt, it could be a pain, especially the rear caliper mounting brackets, because you won't be able to get a long pipe under the car if you are working on jackstands.

Also, there are little *gotchas* such as having the parking brake disengaged before trying to remove the rear discs (because the parking brake uses the inside part of the rear disc) that can cause frustration

My advice: If you have previous experience and the car is not rusty, get a good set of instructions and go for it.  If you are a novice and the car is from the northeast, take it to a good shop and ask them to anti seize everything when they put it back together so you can do it easily yourself next time

  2. Easy job as long as you have some mechanical experience and have the equipment to do it safely. I have a hydraulic jack to lift the car and axle stands to hold it on  while I change the brake pads, if you do not have this kit or something better then I suggest you go to a garage.  Using a standard car jack is hard work and not very safe.

  3. easy if in doubt buy a heynes manual

  4. Very easy - as above, go for a Haynes manual if you're stuck, it'll save you the money on this job alone. They don't do a Legacy one, but the Impreza manual will be fine for this job.
